Last month's survey asked how many children you have, how many you originally wanted and if you felt your family picture was complete. We had 15 responses with a total of 180 children, bringing our average household to 12 children. There were 10 people whose answers showed that they have more children than they originally planned. Two families feel that their families are complete even though they have less children than they wanted originally. One of these families wanted six, but will complete their family with 5, while the other family started out wanting 11 and has found themselves complete with 8. Three of our responders never had an idea of how many children they wanted, and have a total of 38 children among them. So are we finished? Is our family complete? Well, only 6 people answered with a "yes". Amazingly enough we also had 6 that said "no" they are not a complete family yet. The other 3 responders were not quite sure, saying either that "it is in the Lord's hands" or "I think so". An additional piece of information gained from our survey was that 3 of our readers are expecting new additions to their families this year. Congratulations to those growing families! What does all this mean? The one thing that we all have in common is that we do not have the number of children that we thought we would, or had planned to have. We all changed our minds at one point or another for any of a variety of reasons and we all now are the parents of large families. Last month's poll searching for the primary reason that we have large families. The poll showed that we had 18 people who voted. I was surprised to find that there wasn't a majority vote for any of the reasons. "I just always wanted a large family", received the most votes with 7, or 39% of the vote. The two reasons that tied for second were, "Religious Beliefs" and "It wasn't intentional, it just happened". We received 3 votes for "Other - I'll email my reason", however, I only received one email. This responder's reasons can be summed up by saying that it was a combination of religious and personal reasons. I thank everybody that participated in the poll and survey and hope that you continue to provide us with your answers. If you have never responded to one of our survey's or polls, take a moment and participate with us this month! Attention! We are desperately seeking the following: 1. A Feature Family for the Month of March! 2. Somebody interested in writing an article on vacation/travel with a large family! Email us today and volunteer! |
